Vaccinations

Pet Care and Vaccines

Whether you need vaccinations for puppy care or kitten care, our vet can ensure your pet stays current on its inoculations. Once your pet has had a wellness check, our vet will create a vaccination plan. These vaccines protect your pets from various diseases. We will schedule the times for your pet's next updates until they are fully vaccinated.

Puppy Care

Getting your puppy vaccinated involves a series of scheduled visits during the first year and beyond.

The recommended vaccinations include:

  • Distemper and parvovirus at 6 to 8 weeks of age
  • DHPP (this covers distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus) at 10 to 12 weeks
  • DHPP and rabies at 16 to 18 weeks
  • DHPP and rabies at 12 to 16 months
  • DHPP - vaccination every 1 to 2 years
  • Rabies - every 1 to 3 years (required)

Talk to our vet about optional vaccines, which include Bordetella, influenza, Lyme disease, coronavirus, and Leptospirosis.

Kitten Care

Like puppies, kittens require vaccines to help prevent disease between 6 and 8 weeks old. Booster shots follow at 3 to 4-week intervals until kittens reach 16 to 20 weeks old.

There are core and non-core vaccines for kittens. Core vaccines include:

  • Rabies
  • Feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR)
  • Feline panleukopenia (FP)
  • Feline calicivirus (FVC)

Non-core vaccines include:

  • Feline leukemia virus (FeLV)
  • Chlamydophila Felis
  • Bordetella bronchiseptica

Our vet will discuss with you whether your kitten should receive non-core vaccines based on specific factors such as their current health, living environment, and lifestyle.
